Music

We offer extra curricular music lessons to those children in KS2. Music teachers from Wardle visit the school to teach children to play brass and woodwind instruments. Mr Lee Rigg teaches brass and Mrs Jane Conway teaches woodwind. Music is a performing art and we encourage our children to perform in concerts as soon as they are able. We also enter local and national events and play for our local community during the festive period. In the past, the band has played for the Mayor and local community at Littleborough station. 

We have a senior band and a training band. These rehearse during the lunch break.

Those children who are developing well are invited to take the ABRSM music grades. Sometimes additional lessons are offered to support the children in developing their solo playing skills.

Musical Instruments and uniform

Lessons are not funded by the school, charges are kept to a minimum.

Lessons cost £50 per term and are payable in advance. An annual charge of £25 is made to cover the hire and insurance of the musical instruments. Children are taught in groups of no more than eight.

We expect band members to be smart, wearing a white long sleeved shirt, grey skirt or trousers and school tie. The school loans band members a waistcoat. All children are expected to wear black shoes.
