My name is John Hartley and I am an authority governor. I have lived in Littleborough all my life and I was educated at Littleborough High school. I have been a governor for the past eleven years and I previously served ten years as a local councillor for the ward of Littleborough Lakeside in which the school is located. I retired from my position as borough councillor in 2022 as I felt it needed someone in the role that could commit more time to it and not be tied to set hours working for an employer. I am employed in Littleborough at Fothergill Engineered Fabrics, where I run the knitting department and have worked for the company now for almost 36 years.
I am passionate about every child regardless of race or where they live. I also believe every child should receive an equal education and that they should be able to reach their full potential in a fun and safe place.
